Olivia Pope Is Back in Her White Hat on Last Night’s Scandal

Last night’s Scandal saw the return of “Gladiator” Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington), white hat and all. We’ve missed this version of her! Although she still suffers from frequent flashbacks, she dives headfirst into a new case with Pope & Associates on behalf of Cyrus Beene. They’re in damage control mode as his former-prostitute fiancé, Michael, is caught in a cheating scandal. The only solution? A wedding! Olivia Pope always knows what to do.

In this episode, we see her slowly transform through her wardrobe choices. “We started her in dark navy pajamas, then moved to the black Armani suit, then on to lighter colors as the show progressed,” Scandal costume designer, Lyn Paolo, tells InStyle. “Now she’s doing her ‘Olivia Pope’ thing!” By the end of the episode, she’s even wearing a white jacket (Alexander McQueen)—the ultimate Gladiator look.

Rebecca Taylor’s One-Stop LWD (Little White Dress) Shop

An escape to the islands of Turks and Caicos left designer Rebecca Taylor with more than a tan—it inspired the idea for her Little White Dress capsule collection. “ I saw the dress’s versatility, from the beach to the cabana party,” she says. “So I wanted to make one for every occasion in a woman’s busy schedule.” Each of the nine dresses has a summertime personality, so you’ll definitely find one to match your mood.

Michelle Obama Stuns in Gray Marchesa at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner

Last night (May 3), the room for the 100th annual White House Correspondents’ dinner (a.k.a. the nerd prom) may have been packed wall to wall with celebrities like Mindy Kaling, Taylor Schilling and Olivia Munn swathed in designer finery, but there was little question who shone the brightest of the evening.

Dressed in a Marchesa gray tulle gown with a dropped-shoulder portrait neckline — a new cut for her– Michelle Obama nearly glowed from her lofted stage perch.  The dress, a sleeveless adaptation from Look 20 of the Marchesa Fall 2013 runway show that flaunted FLOTUS’s famously toned arms, also featured a fitted waistline and a sprinkling of romantic silver floral embroidery on the bodice.

For those keeping tabs, it’s not the first time Mrs. O favored Marchesa’s draped looks for eveningwear. She wore a teal green strapless gown by the luxury label, featuring draped silk chiffon at the shoulders, to the Kennedy Center Honors last December.

This time around, the First Lady finished her glamorous Hollywood look with flipped waves, sparkling Cathy Waterman drop earrings and a ready laugh–quite the breeze as both President Obama and host Joe McHale delivered their share of one-liners.

Genius Invention! Here’s Why We No Longer Fear Wearing White Pants

While a pair of white jeans may be a spring must-have and look gorgeous when flawlessly clean, one small misstep—like spilling a few drops of your morning latte—can leave your crisp pants ruined. Now, thanks to Joe’s Jeans, you don’t need to avoid white denim any longer. The brand has created a line of stain-resistant white denim, appropriately named “Spotless,” which allows you to be a little more relaxed in your quest to keep your white denim pieces looking new.

The stay-true hue and innovative wash treatment repels spills and resists liquids, including water, coffee, soda, and even the worst type of stain—wine. While the pieces won’t ward off pigment based colors such as lip gloss, makeup, nail polish, paint or other products of a similar composition, they will stay white much longer than your average pair of snowy colored jeans. The Joe’s Jeans “Spotless” collection features several classic styles—skinny jeans in multiple lengths, a pencil skirt, bermuda shorts, standard cutoff shorts, and trousers, all for your springtime enjoyment.

Fear white denim no longer! Shop the Joe’s Jeans “Spotless” collection ($ 149 – $ 189) now at joesjeans.com and experience white jeans, stain-free.
