Haute Moments from the Dior Couture Show: Crazy Onesies, Fancy Raincoats, and More

Paris Couture Fashion Week is officially off! Last season, we saw some zany prints (think: rats and pigeons), cool gown-pant hybrids, and couture bike shorts sprinkled amid breathtaking creations. We didn’t think it was possible, but this season, couturiers have truly one-upped themselves.

To wit: Raf Simons inspired awe and shock when he opened the Dior Haute Couture spring 2015 show with what could be mistaken for raincoats, albeit fancy raincoats (below). The idyllic plastic toppers, crafted from what we can only venture to guess was PVC printed with scenic florals, practically upstaged the sequin-encrusted minis underneath.

But if that didn’t elicit shock, the line-up of crazy one-pieces sure will. There were some wonderfully and chaotically printed in haphazard lines punctuated with graphic shapes, while there were others  that were striped and doused in all-over sequins (above).

And there were, of course, beautiful pannier-style pieces (a silhouette that carried over from last season) and other dreamy numbers to cry (slash drool) over. Ahead, check out the other couture moments from Dior, along with Atelier Versace, Schiaparelli, and more.

Jingle Ball 2014 Rocked! Ariana Grande, Charli XCX, Taylor Swift and More

‘Tis the season for… amazing music performances! The annual iHeartRadio Jingle Ball, which took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City last night (Dec. 12) brought a serious line-up of heavy-hitting pop stars worth fangirling over. The red carpet was literally jam-packed with the likes of Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams, Iggy Azalea, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Jessie J and Charli XCX.

It’s tough to pick but here were some highlights: “Boom Clap” singer Charli XCX (below) walking the red carpet in a sheer white slip dress with marabou puffs over, ahem, strategic areas. Onstage, the Brit did a wardrobe change into a peppy cheerleader uniform with “Sucker,” the title of her recent album, emblazoned on the chest.

Then there was Swift, who knew how to “Shake it Off.” She sang her bona fide hit at midnight just as she turned 25– talk about a sweet way to ring in a quarter of a century.

But perhaps our fave was the adorable Ariana Grande (top), who channeled the best of the season in sequined antlers and was flanked by backup dancers dressed like candy canes. The petite Grande wowed with her voice of course, but also took it to a personal level, dedicating her last song to brother Frankie Grande. Her number one fan, Frankie raved earlier to us on his sis’ performance at the recent Victoria’s Secret fashion show. “It was really phenomenal,” he said. “She really killed it; she looked gorgeous, she sounded amazing. I wasn’t prepared for her to sing four songs—I had no idea what was actually going to happen, and it was a rainbow runway, and it was a lot for me to process. It was amazing.”

Jennifer Aniston, Lena Dunham, and Naomi Watts Want to Bring Art Classes to More Schools

Lena Dunham, Jennifer Aniston, and Naomi Watts want you to color outside the lines. They, along with other actors, musicians, and artists, have created drawings for LilySarahGrace, an organization that provides supplies to teachers in underfunded schools to help them to teach their curriculum through art.

The fund was founded by Matthew Badger and his partner Abby Ballin after Badger’s three daughters, Lily, Sarah, and Grace, were tragically killed in a fire on Christmas 2011. All three of his daughters had dyslexia, and Badger saw first hand how art classes helped his daughters learn. He has since allocated millions of dollars in supplies to teachers around the country so that they can help their students learn outside of the lines through art.

Starting today, you can donate to Badger’s new Kickstarter campaign, which will raise money to publish a book featuring the drawings of Aniston, Dunham, Watts, as well as Jessica Biel, Diane von Furstenberg, Elle Fanning, and many other celebs (Dunham’s and Watts’ are pictured above). The book, which will be titled You Can’t Memorize This, aims to show that all creative types think outside the box. All proceeds from the book will go to funding these art-driven curriculums in schools.

The Explicit Scene You Won’t See in This Is Where I Leave You! Plus More Candid Moments Straight from the Cast

What happens when you put Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Connie Britton, Kathryn Hahn, Jane Fonda, Corey Stoll, and Adam Driver in a house together for a whole straight week? A lot of funny stories, apparently!

When we caught up with the stars of the film This Is Where I Leave You in Toronto at InStyle and Forevermark’s pop-up portrait lounge, they shared some behind the scenes moments with us, and one hot scene that ended up ended up on the cutting room floor. “I had the best time making this movie,” Britton, who plays Tracy, the spicy older girlfriend to Driver’s character, Phillip, told InStyle. “We were shooting at a house in Long Island and we had a bedroom assigned to us to all hang out in between scenes, so we would be together for 12 hours a day in this one room.”

Sounds fitting for a movie that is about a family that is reunited after the death of their father, whose last wish was for his family to sit shiva for one week in their mother’s home. “There was a lot of playing Words with Friends,” says Corey Stoll, who plays eldest brother Paul in the family comedy. “Jason [Bateman] is the best at the game. And Tina [Fey] is really good. But I’m pretty good, too,” Stoll told InStyle, with a sly smile. Swap over to when the cameras started rolling and the fun did not stop.

“One of the first scenes we shot was in the classroom where the brothers get, um, inebriated. It was just so great to see the three brothers together in that dynamic.”

So what was Britton’s favorite scene to shoot? “I did a sex scene with Adam Driver, who, of course, is the king of sex scenes. He wanted to make sure I was comfortable with it, and I’m like, ‘I’m fine, thank you.’ He is very sweet. It’s fun to talk about it now because it’s not in the movie anymore.”

Robin Wright, Jane Krakowski, and More Kick Off New York Fashion Week at amfAR’s Annual New York Gala

New York City kicked off New York Fashion Week in style last night with the annual amfAR Gala. ”This event is meant to coincide with fashion week,” Kenneth Cole, amfAR Chair of the Board,  told us at last night’s glamorous event held at the Cipriani Wall Street. “The fashion community has always been wonderfully supportive of everything amfAR does, which gives that much more substance to the evening.” And they were out in full force. Karlie Kloss, Chanel Iman, Lindsay Ellingson, and more were among the slew of models who came out to show their support, and designers such as Donna Karan were also in attendance as amfAR announced their latest initiative: Countdown to a Cure for HIV/AIDS by 2020. “It’s just a great, wonderful time in this journey,” Cole continued. “It’s treacherous outside! It’s slushy. It’s cold, and people came all the way downtown anyway, and they come down looking great with smiles on their faces, so we’re very excited about tonight.”

The excitement he described was contagious as a stream of enthusiastic A-list actors, including Robin Wright, Liam Neeson, Ethan Hawke, Jane Krakowski, and more made their way into the venue. “I love these nights!” Krakowski said. “Especially tonight with the fashion element and the beautiful, beautiful people here — I’m hoping [my] personality is going to come out on stage!” And that it did. Her humorous and uplifiting opening remarks set the tone for the evening, as Cole and the rest of amfAR honored legendary photographer Peter Lindbergh and actress Vanessa Redgrave and her daughter Joely Richardson, who received their award from Chelsea Clinton. “A cure for AIDS is no longer just a dream, it’s now a visible, achievable, and as it has always been a necessary goal,” Clinton said in her speech. “I think we should all take inspiration and obligation from how far we have come — those are what will pressure us to finish the job.”As the final remarks were made on stage and the last bids placed, the room prepared to dance the night away to live performances courtesy of two musical legends: Nile Rodgers & The Chic and Grace Jones. And as you can imagine, the uplifting tunes reinforced the positive energy that engulfed the room. To see more celebrity photos from this week, take a look at our gallery!

Meow! Miranda Kerr, Heather Graham, and More Celebrate Animal Print at the Opening of Roberto Cavalli’s New Boutique

The Just Cavalli store was awash with loud prints and a very fashionable crowd last night at the flagship boutique opening in New York City. Guests including Heather Graham and Miranda Kerr sipped on cocktails made with Roberto Cavalli Vodka while DJ Mad Marj spun tunes by M.I.A. and Katy Perry.

Designer Roberto Cavalli arrived with Kerr on his arm, and everyone flocked to congratulate him on the boutique’s grand opening. “Just Cavalli is so sexy, so young looking. I’m excited to see the young, bright American girls wearing Just Cavalli. They will understand it,” Cavalli told InStyle.com exclusively.

“He just has a great spirit about him,” Kerr, dressed in a floor-length animal-print Just Cavalli gown, told us. “His clothes fit and are wearable, but still sexy.” After exploring the store (which features one wall covered in floor-to-ceiling fringe and a suspended flight of stairs covered in transparent python print), guests took in the pre-fall runway show that followed next, where models emerged from the lower level, making a loop around the store and then outside onto the street for passers-by to see.

The collection was signature Cavalli, featuring richly colored leather and striking patterns, including animal print. “It is the usual for me. It is my beginning,” the designer said of why he often uses the vibrant pattern. “I take my animal print from the real photo of the animal that I shoot. That is the secret to my animal print!”
