It’s a Love Story: Kim Kardashian Carries a Clutch Featuring Her Famous Wedding Photo

This might just take the cake for most personalized wedding gift ever. Kim Kardashian hit the red carpet at Variety’s Power of Women event in New York City today, where she carried a clutch baring a very familiar image—a stunning photo from her May 2014 wedding to Kanye West.

The custom Olympia Le-Tan accessory featured the phrase “Mr & Mrs West, A Love Story,” along with an intricate and embroidered portrait of Kim and Kanye kissing in front of a wall of white flowers during their nuptials.

But her clutch wasn’t the only thing that caught our eye: Mrs. West herself wowed in a sleeveless ivory coat, silk top, and chic wide-leg pants all by Narciso Rodriguez that she paired with metallic Giambattista Valli shoes. Kardashian was one of five ladies honored at the luncheon, being recognized for her work with the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

12 Monkeys Premieres Tonight: Star Emily Hampshire Reveals What It’s Like to Take On Brad Pitt’s Iconic Movie Role

It may sound crazy, but Emily Hampshire is basically Brad Pitt. Don’t believe us? Just wait until you see her portrayal of a mental patient in Syfy’s new time-traveling series, 12 Monkeys. The Canadian actress takes on the female version of a character originally portrayed by Pitt in the 1995 film of the same title. “The writers didn’t know how anybody was going to live up to Brad’s part, so they changed the role to a woman,” Hampshire told InStyle during a recent visit to our New York offices. “His character’s name is Jeffrey Goines, and I’m Jennifer Goines.”

Despite the gender switch-up in the modern day take on the cult-classic, Hampshire said she was under “a lot of pressure” when reprising the role of Goines, who is enlisted to help a time traveler (played by James Cole) from the future as he tries to save the population from a deadly virus. “It’s the same character, but I’m not doing an impression of his performance—it’s totally new,” she said.

Fans of the original 12 Monkeys will appreciate subtle nods to the original film. “They made a replica of the sweater that Brad wore in the movie,” Hampshire said. “It’s this grungy velour sweater from the nineties. Fans went crazy when they saw pictures of me wearing it at Comic-Con!” That one pullover is as far as it goes when it comes to similarities between Jeffrey and Jennifer Goines’s wardrobes.

Spoiler alert: Hampshire revealed that her character “comes into a lot of money” following a plot twist, and “starts wearing Christian Louboutins and Yves Saint Laurent dresses.” The actress just wishes that she knew how stylish her costumes would be when she first took on the role. “I thought my character would be wearing pajama pants in the hospital the whole time,” she said. “Now I wish I had asked to keep my wardrobe!”

Tune in to the show tonight, Jan. 16, at 9 p.m. ET on Syfy.

It’s Katy Perry’s 30th Birthday! See Her Transform from High School Freshman to Pop Queen

October 25, 2014 @ 8:10 am

Born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, the wildly personable and international pop icon Katy Perry rings in the big 3-0 today, but that’s not all the singer has to celebrate.

Since her introductory days into the music industry as a gospel singer (adorable, right?), the “Roar” songstress has solidified her place among the best-selling artists of all time after her Teenage Dream album became the first by a female artist to produce five No. 1 songs in a row. All in a day’s work for Katy Perry, but that’s what you’d expect from an artist who has sold more than 72 million digital singles, which made her the best-selling digital singles artist in the U.S. earlier this year. And as if you aren’t already impressed, Katy added Twitter tycoon to her already extensive list of accolades when she became the first person to hit 50 million followers, which broke the Guinness World Record for most Twitter followers and officially inspired us to step up our social-media game.

Ever the daring, fashion-forward trendsetter, word on the street is Katy is in the market to produce her own fashion brand, a move that will surely send every Katy Cat clamoring for a piece of the “Firework” singer’s audacious style. Speaking of which, we can’t wait to see what crowd-pleasing fashion liberties she will take when she headlines the 2015 Super Bowl XLIX halftime show on Feb. 1.

Is there anything this superwoman can’t do? Katy Perry for president! Just kidding, but really.

It’s the Great Collaboration Charlie Brown! Coach Partners With the Peanuts Gang

Unlike Linus’s Great Pumpkin (which happens to air tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC), this news is 100-percent real: As the first installment in a series of limited-edition collections that celebrate Coach‘s American heritage, the luxury leather goods brand has given its handbags a dash of cartoon-like playfulness with Charles M. Schulz’s famous comic strip sketches embossed on satchels, totes, and duffels.

“Coach has for so many years been an American institution so it seems fitting to honor that heritage with iconography that captures moments in American pop culture,” says Coach creative director Stuart Vevers. “Peanuts and Snoopy were a rite of passage for a generation and continue to be so emotive—there’s a particular image of joyful Snoopy that I’ve always loved and have in our studio that manages to capture so much feeling and emotion in a sketch. I was intrigued by the idea of taking that image and playfulness but subverting it. A rebellious spirit is contrasted with reassuringly natural Coach leather to create something unexpected.”

And Vevers did just that by pitting a flitting Woodstock against a sophisticated color palette of black and ivory, an exuberant Snoopy on a cheery “Woodstock” yellow, and offering edgy black leather Snoopy dolls.

The 21-piece Coach x Peanuts capsule collection is available now at French boutique colette.fr, with a broader launch slated to debut on coach.com October 24. With the second launch date comes Coach’s first official iPhone app with fun Coach x Peanuts-related features, like getting photo-bombed by Peanuts characters. But in the meantime, you can take a look at the digital (and animated!) Coach x Peanuts lookbook on coach.com.

Mara Hoffman’s Coiled Snake Wedding Gown Is Slithering It’s Way Into Our Hearts

If Mara Hoffman’s debut bridal collection of five gowns and two bathing suits wasn’t enough for you, we have good news; Hoffman, known for her bohemian beachwear and graphic clothes, has designed another gown exclusively for online site Bona Drag. The silk “Coiled Snake Gown” (pictured, above left, $ 1,398; BonaDrag.com) features intricate beading around the neckline and is named after the taupe, rose, lavender, and white snake-like beading coiled around the neckline. There’s even two snake heads that come together at the bottom of the low, scooped back.

The dress is part of Bona Drag’s second bridal collection, aptly named the “Ceremonial Collection, and while the collection has its fair share of flowy lace and silk gowns, ethereal kimonos and little white dresses, the bulk of it is made up of a stellar collection of accessories. From white leather gloves and a white pearl labyrinth shoulder piece (pictured, above right, $ 2,390; BonaDrag.com) to rings, cuffs, necklaces, and even white leather moto jackets and lingerie,  this collection has everything you’ll need for what can only be described as the dessert goddess wedding of a lifetime.

“We started the Ceremonial Collection in 2012 as a response to the dire need for bridal for our customer,” Heather Wojner, founder of Bona Drag, told Instyle.com exclusively. “At the time, if you searched online for ‘bridal’ you’d find bland thick tulle white dresses and spiral curl up-do’s. Our customers started asking, ’Could I wear this as a wedding gown?’ or, ‘Am I allowed to have a black diamond engagement ring?’ Yes, if you want to wear a dress made of sterling silver chains or a dress decorated with serpents you’re allowed, and we’ll show you how.”

Take a peek at their lookbook, but be warned that it may leave you with a longing desire to forgo your formal affair and run off to Palm Springs to elope.
