Unlike Linus’s Great Pumpkin (which happens to air tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC), this news is 100-percent real: As the first installment in a series of limited-edition collections that celebrate Coach‘s American heritage, the luxury leather goods brand has given its handbags a dash of cartoon-like playfulness with Charles M. Schulz’s famous comic strip sketches embossed on satchels, totes, and duffels.
“Coach has for so many years been an American institution so it seems fitting to honor that heritage with iconography that captures moments in American pop culture,” says Coach creative director Stuart Vevers. “Peanuts and Snoopy were a rite of passage for a generation and continue to be so emotive—there’s a particular image of joyful Snoopy that I’ve always loved and have in our studio that manages to capture so much feeling and emotion in a sketch. I was intrigued by the idea of taking that image and playfulness but subverting it. A rebellious spirit is contrasted with reassuringly natural Coach leather to create something unexpected.”

And Vevers did just that by pitting a flitting Woodstock against a sophisticated color palette of black and ivory, an exuberant Snoopy on a cheery “Woodstock” yellow, and offering edgy black leather Snoopy dolls.
The 21-piece Coach x Peanuts capsule collection is available now at French boutique colette.fr, with a broader launch slated to debut on coach.com October 24. With the second launch date comes Coach’s first official iPhone app with fun Coach x Peanuts-related features, like getting photo-bombed by Peanuts characters. But in the meantime, you can take a look at the digital (and animated!) Coach x Peanuts lookbook on coach.com.
