See Our 3 Favorite Looks From the Cannes Film Festival This Weekend!

While we’re lounging in our relaxed weekend gear, the ladies of the Cannes International Film Festival have been bringing their fashion A-game to the red carpet. Amongst our favorites this weekend? Three dazzling choices by Salma Hayek, Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence. Though Hayek chose a straightforward strapless silhouette for the premiere of Saint Laurent, the intense pink by Saint Laurent, aptly, really packed the punch. Plus, the look was in the details. Rather than overly fancy accessories, she chose a black leather studded clutch from the design house. And with the seaside location, her loose highlighted curls were a smart finish. (But it wasn’t all about looks for the actress. Hayek took the red carpet opportunity to support the missing Nigerian schoolgirls by holding up a sign that read: #BringBackOurGirls.) Chastain, meanwhile, also knew her way around the color wheel. For the premiere of her latest film The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, the red-haired beauty played up her assets. Wearing an asymmetrical Atelier Versace gown in vivid blue, Chastain was prime example of how to dress for one’s complexion and hair-color. Plus, the gentle draping at the waist, matching Roger Vivier heels and soft Old Hollywood waves added just the right touch of refined elegance. Last but certainly not least, JLaw’s look was no-fuss but hit all the right notes for a film party. To celebrate The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I, the actress wore a layered ensemble just breezy enough for the occasion. Lawrence donned a Dior cobalt tank dress under a sheer, flowy gown. The wow factor? The contrasting emerald green Irene Neuwirth earrings that were an unconventional but smashing pick. Looking for more red carpet fashion highlights? Secrets from the Set: How to Steal Nicole Kidman’s Hair from Grace of Monaco

May 16, 2014 @ 1:25 pm

Replicating the hair of an icon is no easy task, especially when said icon is former Princess of Monaco and Oscar-winning actress Grace Kelly. Much of the upcoming film Grace of Monaco (with Nicole Kidman as Kelly) depicts the star’s life as a newly-appointed royal in the 1960s and so hairstylist Agathe Dupuis went about recreating several of Kelly’s glamorous looks with the help of her styling essentials: Leonor Greyl hair products.

In addition to princess-worthy looks, Dupuis kept men’s hair in place for party scenes, such as the Red Cross Ball, with the brand’s Gel a l’Hibiscus ($ 35; leonorgreyl-usa.com), and often relies on Tonique Hydratant ($ 43) and Algues et Fleurs ($ 35), which she claims “are very practical while filming, and give the actors’ hair good texture.” The stylist’s go-to, however, was the Éclat Naturel ($ 46), a nourishing styling cream “which I use for everything from scalp massages to the treatment of the ends of the hair. I can leave it all day long on the hair of the actors, it is perfect!”

From Kerry Washington to Lupita Nyong’o, Hollywood’s Leading Ladies Celebrated at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon

Kerry Washington, Garcelle Beauvais, and Alfre Woodard stepped out on the red carpet in bold frocks at the 7th annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon to celebrate Lupita Nyong’o, who received the Best Breakthrough Performance Award. ”Thank you very much for inviting me to be a part of such an extraordinary community. I am surrounded by people who have inspired me, women in particular whose presence on screen made me feel a little more seen and heard and understood,”says Nyong’o during her acceptance speech.

As stars mixed and mingled, and enjoyed a savory lunch complete with beet carpaccio, stuffed chicken, and a vegan eggplant dish, Nyong’o ended her emotional speech with a touching message for every girl and woman. “I hope that my presence on your screen and my face in magazines may lead you, young girls, on a beautiful journey,” she adds. “That you will feel the validation of your external beauty, but also get to the deeper business of being beautiful inside.” How inspirational! From Dame to Hasty Pudding’s Women of the Year, Helen Mirren Celebrates (and Twerks) At Harvard University

Say hello to Harvard University’s 2014 Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year, Dame Helen Mirren! The actress was honored with the award by the university’s theatrical society based on her contributions to the arts and celebrated with a day fit for a queen (after all, she was The Queen).

The day began with a parade along the streets of Cambridge, Massachusetts, where the 68-year-old shared a convertible with Hasty Pudding members dressed in drag, followed by a celebratory roast and award presentation where she even showed off her twerking skills. “I was made a Dame of the British Empire, I had to go to Buckingham Palace and I was honored by—actually not her Royal Highness—but by Prince Charles, but that didn’t come anywhere close to this,” Mirren laughed as she accepted her award. “This is the greatest honor, so thank you very, very much.”

Mirren joins an array of Hollywood women who were also honored with the Hasty Pudding Women of the Year award—including Julia Roberts, Drew Barrymore, Sandra Bullock, Halle Berry, Claire Danes, and more. Mirren’s pudding pot trophy will fit nicely in her awards case, right next to her Oscar, don’t you think so?

Guess Girl Priyanka Chopra’s Favorite Item in Her Closet is a Pair of Ripped Jeans from 10th Grade

International actress and singer Priyanka Chopra wears everything from traditional Indian garb onscreen to designer couture and Zara offscreen, but on most occasions, she’s happy as a clam just bumming around in her favorite wardrobe staple — jeans. So it couldn’t be more fitting that the  31-year-old star just so happens to be the newest Guess girl.

Turns out, there’s a fun and aww-worthy backstory to her love of her sporting the true blue; there’s one special pair (which she calls “a piece of art”) in her closet that started it all. ”I have these jeans, I don’t even remember the brand because now they’re faded out, since I was in tenth grade,” Chopra told InStyle.com exclusively at a New York party thrown in her honor by PAPER magazine and Guess on January 15th.

“I saved up money for a month and bought [them], and slowly, you know, I ripped them! I’m a really great ripper. I am! I’m the most amazing ripper of clothes. I have all my friends in school at that point sign things on it and who wrote with markers. It’s my favorite piece of clothing in my closet. I still wear it!”

While Chopra is pretty comfortable in casual wear, that doesn’t stop her from turning heads with glamorous looks and her signature poise. Her selections come down to knowing exactly the feeling she’s going for as well as trusting those who know her best. ”You know how you wake up in the morning and you’re like, ‘I feel like wearing orange.’ Or you may feel like wearing certain clothes, and you have to have a stylist who understands very well what you’re feeling, because only if you’re comfortable in something are you gonna look amazing,” says Chopra.

And given Chopra’s whirlwind global schedule, we’re pretty sure she’s got that knowing down to a science. Her year ahead is already looking as busy as 2013, which she wrapped on a high note: being named Maxim India‘s hottest woman of the year. She’s releasing a new single titled I Can’t Make You Love Me in the UK on January 20th, and then she’s off to Mumbai to co-host the 59th Filmfare Awards at the end of the month.

Chopra’s confident attitude is clearly translating into jaw-dropping looks befitting a former Miss World (2000). So what feeling is the actress going for when she’s choosing among couturiers? Says Chopra, “My stylist comes and tells me that ‘these are the most amazing pieces from designers.’ And I end up picking the one that I feel like a star in!”

Yeah, we’re feeling that “star” thing about Chopra too! To see more photos, follow Priyanka on Instagram.
