Oversize Blazers to Wear All Fall Long

The relaxed silhouette of an oversize blazer has a certain level of sophistication that’s hard to compete with. This borrowed-from-the-boys style is all about the details, so look for a topper with a crisp lapels, too-cool cuffs, or shapely shoulders–most importantly, you want something very tailored.

How To Wear It:

Forgo cigarette pants here. Balance proportions with slouchy trousers or a boxy midiskirt. Crafted from lighter wools and crêpes, this blazer is all about the drape; go for stream-lined pairings like a silk blouse, or for evenings, skip that layer and show some skin, per Hermès (above, left center).

Happy Birthday Kate Winslet! See the English Rose’s Transformation

October 5, 2014 @ 8:45 am

Happy birthday Kate Winslet, the Oscar winner turns 39 today! With a long and already illustrious career, Winslet was an early and eager thespian.  At the tender age of 11, Winslet scored her first gig in a Sugar Puffs commercial. She caught her big break at the age of 17 in Heavenly Creatures but claimed international stardom with her role as the redhead-socialite Rose DeWitt Bukater in Titanic alongside co-star Leonardo DiCaprio (we still love you Jack).

In 2009, Winslet’s performance in Revolutionary Road won her a Golden Globe. She also took home both an Oscar and Golden Globe for her critically acclaimed role in The Reader. Most recently, you could find Winslet playing Jeanine in this summer’s blockbuster Divergent, we can’t wait to see more of Winslet’s badass stunts in the upcoming sequel Insurgent out next year.

Here’s to the birthday girl: See the British beauty’s transformation throughout the years.

Happy 45th Birthday, Gwen Stefani! From Punk Princess to Glamour Queen, See Her Best Beauty Moments

Happy birthday, Gwen Stefani! The positively ageless performer turns 45 today. Best known for being the frontwoman of No Doubt, Stefani has certainly come a long way since her combat boot-wearing and mesh top-rocking days (though we’re still big fans of her punk rock roots!) The Voice coach and L.A.M.B. designer can put a glamorous spin on any outfit, as we saw at this year’s VMAs and Emmys, and isn’t afraid to stand out—in fact, her signature edgy-chic look is her trademark. “I’m the girl who would wear baggy jeans but didn’t forget to put on tons of makeup,” Stefani has said of her early days with No Doubt. And we wouldn’t want it any other way!

Diversify your look and add a pop of color with loud geo patterns or tap your wild side with a refined animal print scarf (one of this season’s major prints). Or, tread the fine line trend with checks in neutrals, vibrant hues, like the Marc by Marc Jacobs scarf (above, center), or rustic fall-ready shades. Not feeling the prints? We sought out one in minimalist, elegant shades of gray, too.

In other words, we found the coziest scarves around to suit every personality. Wear them cloaked like a blanket (a la Burberry’s blanket poncho), wrapped tight, long and loose, or belted. Shop all of our picks, ahead.
